I’m Not Gonna Rob You

It’s been a little while since something crazy or funny happened here.

Then came today’s bus rides…

First, have you ever had a stranger fall asleep on you on a bus? I have.

I was on my usual bus on the way home from Amber’s house. There are always people who get on and beg or sell stuff. Tonight for some reason they were all pretty intense.

First was a 12 year old kid who had to work to help provide for his family. That will tear your heart to pieces.

The next guy was shouting and really forceful. I thought, “No one is going to give him money.” When he was done shouting, everyone gave him money. I didn’t really understand what he was saying but must have been convincing.

Then another guy got on selling candy. He was pretty drunk. He recognized the guy next to me and they talked (well, he shouted). I just sat hoping he wouldn’t notice me. He did of course. (P.S. It’s so wrong for me to avoid interacting with people who might need Jesus!) He shook my hand and asked where I was from. I told him the U.S, Texas to be exact. The following conversation is real life:

Drunk man: “Huh?”

Keith: “Texas”

Drunk Man: “Oh Argentina!”

Keith: “No, the United States.”

Drunk man: “Huh?”

The rest of the bus. “He’s North American.”   (exaggeration but I did feel like it was the whole bus).

Drunk man:  “I’m not going to rob you. You know, rob (forming a gun with his hand).”

Keith: “Well, good.”          *all passengers around me laugh*

He provided most of the bus with quite the laugh. I usually really enjoy the people who get on the bus to perform or beg for money. I have taken some videos of the singers…maybe I will post those soon.
